Questions to ask the estate agent

Good questions at a viewing give you information that is not in the listing.

A buyer and an estate agent talk at a garden table, with speech bubbles above them

The estate agent works for the seller. But the agent must give buyers correct information. Ask good questions.

About the sale

  • How many people have shown interest?
  • When does the bidding start, and how does it work?
  • Does the seller have a date in mind for the sale?

About the home

  • Why are the owners selling?
  • Are there known problems?
  • What renovations have been done, and when?

About the building or the house

  • For a flat: are there planned repairs in the building? Is the fee going to change?
  • For a house: how old is the roof, the heating system and the drains?

About the area

  • Are there building plans nearby?
  • What have similar homes sold for lately?
