How to learn from a bad miss

A guess that is far off is not bad luck. It is the best lesson in the game.

A red guess pin stands far from the real home, and a dotted line shows the gap

Every player has rounds where the guess is far off. Those rounds teach more than the good ones.

Step 1: find the direction

Were you too high or too low? Write it down.

Step 2: find the reason

Go through the home again:

  • Location: did you know the area, or did you guess?
  • Size: did you misjudge it from the photos?
  • Age and condition: was it newer or more worn than you thought?
  • Type: was it a flat, a terraced house or a detached house?
  • Fee: for a flat, was the monthly fee unusually high or low?

Step 3: fix one belief

A bad miss usually comes from one wrong belief. Maybe "this area is cheap" or "old buildings are expensive". Change that belief.

Step 4: test it

Play two or three homes nearby. Is your new belief better?

Do not chase points

A miss costs you a few price points. But the lesson can give you many points in every round after it.
