Your first round in PricePinner, step by step

A short guide to your first guess: pick a home, study it, set a price and read your score.

A toy player walks along a dotted route to a red house under a blue map pin

Your first round takes about a minute. Here is what to do.

1. Open the map

The map shows homes that really sold. Each pin is one home. Zoom in on an area that you know. Your own area is the best start, because you already know more about it than you think.

2. Pick a home

Tap a pin. You see the photos, the location and the description. In Detailed mode, some clues are hidden. You can open them, but each one costs part of your clue points.

3. Study it

Ask yourself three questions:

  • Is the area popular?
  • Is the home big or small for this area?
  • Is it old or new?

Do not open a clue just because you can. Open one only when you really do not know.

4. Set your price

Type a price or use the buttons to change it. Decide on your number before you start to adjust. A number that you choose first is a number that you can learn from.

5. Read your score

The game shows the real final price and your points:

  • Distance: up to 50 points.
  • Price: up to 30 points.
  • Clues: up to 20 points.

6. Ask why

Was your guess too high or too low? Why? Write it down in your head. This one habit makes you better faster than anything else.

Your next step

Play five homes in the same area. Then look at your history. You will see a pattern in your guesses after only a few rounds.
